Business Development & Sales Manager

Two Octobers is seeking a sales and business development manager who will grow our client base, especially amongst purpose-driven clients. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record selling digital marketing, media, or technical products, plus connections in purpose-driven business communities. Our small team strongly values collaboration, direct feedback, curiosity, and doing impactful work. 

 

This position can be fully remote (but Colorado-based candidates are preferred), with occasional travel.

Compensation and Benefits Overview

Salary and commission totalling $125,000 – $150,000/year

Responsibilities

  • Grow revenue and profitability by expanding Two Octobers’ client base.
  • Oversee business development initiatives and guide them from the opportunity lead phase through the contract phase.
  • Create new leads from prospecting efforts.
  • Nurture leads and prospects, leading to closed sales.
  • Qualify and progress prospects through the sales cycle.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with targeted prospective clients to identify proper services/offerings mix to meet prospective clients’ needs.
  • Develop proposals; and maintain communications with prospective clients.
  • Document sales process, including proposals and contracts.
  • Work with the marketing team to define campaigns, improve messaging, and drive additional sales meetings.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and marketing services.
  • Connections amongst purpose-driven business communities, such as B Corporations, 1% for the Planet, Conscious Capitalism. The passion to apply your sales skills to building a better world.
  • Experience with sales support and marketing automation tools. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong active listening skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Willingness to help wherever needed, and to encourage teamwork. 

Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience selling b2b services, ideally marketing services at a marketing agency.
  • BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from strategy to close, delivering substantial results.
  • Polished presentation, communication and listening skills.
  • Experience creating business development proposals and marketing materials.

Essential Job Functions

  • Requires ability to work for extended periods of time at a computer.
  • Requires the ability to speak, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties of the job, and be able to communicate clearly. 
  • Some ability to travel.
